About the event

Grab your wands, hop on your broomsticks, and come join us for a magical adventure. Wizarding School for the whole family in London and Edinburgh starts this fall. This event begins in London on Wednesday, August 30, 2023 and continues through September 8, 2023 in Edinburgh.

If you choose to begin your family Wizard Training Adventure, you will experience 3-4 hours of daily events and "classes" (aka super fun activities) taught outdoors in beautiful parks and open areas with families of other aspiring wizards from all over the world. These activities will include subjects such as:

  • The science of magic
  • Potions, explosions, and the magic of chemistry
  • Owls and other magical creatures
  • Arts and crafts inspired by our favorite wizards
  • Botany and the uses of plants in potions and medicines
  • History of the magical and non-magical among us, including guided tours and scavenger hunts through London and Edinburgh, visiting sites said to have inspired J.K. Rowling when she created the world's favorite wizard
  • Writing epic tales and magical fiction
  • Wizards and magic in history and myth
  • And much more

Additional Experiences you can enjoy together with the group with the payment of applicable entrance fees include:

  • Visit to Oxford Divinity School, Bodleian Library, and Christ Church to tour filming locations for the Harry Potter films
  • Visit to the Warner Bros. Studio Tour, where we will see the actual film sets for the Harry Potter Films
  • Visit to Wizard Exploratorium for wand-making, potion-making, and/or afternoon tea
  • Visit to Alnwick Castle, a major filming location of the first two Harry Potter films and an amazing historical castle with a Quidditch activity and Dragon Quest interactive activity
  • Viewing of Harry Potter and the Cursed Child in London’s West End
  • Visit to Edinburgh Castle, which inspired the Emerald City in the Wizard of Oz and will serve as a jumping off point for our own artistic creations
  • Visit to Edinburgh’s Royal Botanical Gardens for botany class and magic poetry
  • Visit to Dalhousie Castle Falconry for a special group experience handling owls and imagining which we would pick to deliver our messages
  • Visit to the Scottish Highlands to ride the Jacobite Steam Train featured in the Harry Potter films as the “Hogwarts Express.”

Tuition is charged per family, not per person, and it includes the daily programming and instruction associated with your family wizard training adventure. It also includes your school uniform (shirt) and wand. When a tour guide is provided, the cost is included, but entrance fees to the various locations and events are not included in the tuition and should be paid directly by the participants. We hope you'll join us for all of these adventures to greatly enhance your immersive experience, but families may choose which to attend. A full itinerary with all dates and specific times for group visits to locations will be sent to all participants so that advance tickets may be purchased. To allow families their own comfort choices, accommodations, transportation, and food are not included in tuition. Some may rent cars while others take trains, public transit, or taxis to navigate between cities and events. The group will likely spend much of the day together, but families may travel in the way most comfortable and affordable for them.

This activity is ideal for children ages 6-14, however, older wizarding fans (teenagers and parents) will have a wonderful time as well. Younger children are welcome to participate with us but specific visit locations should be checked for minimum age restrictions.

Tuition Per Family: $1000

This activity is intended to celebrate witches and wizards of all varieties. It is not associated with J.K. Rowling, Warner Bros., Bloomsbury, Scholastic, or any companies involved in the publication or production of Harry Potter books or movies.
